Since 2013, AEYL’s Leadership & Life Skills Program has equipped nearly 3,000 teens (ages 14–18) with tools to lead, think critically, and contribute to their communities. Teens gain real-world skills through financial literacy, internships, scholarships, and civic engagement. Backed by partners like the City of McKinney and MISD, the program maintains a 98.5% family satisfaction rate.

Each academic year, AEYL donors play a pivotal role in shaping the futures of driven high school scholars who are actively pursuing higher education. Through direct support, donors help expand access to college pathways for youth committed to academic excellence and personal growth.
October marks College Month, when the scholarship application process officially opens. Applications remain open through the end of the calendar year, allowing students ample time to submit compelling college essays, detailed application materials, and strong letters of recommendation.
Scholarship recipients are selected based on merit and potential, and are honored with public recognition on their high school campus—celebrating their achievements in front of peers, educators, and community leaders.

A dynamic initiative that prepares teens and young adults for long-term success in both college and career pathways. Anchored by our Summer Internship Experience and Entrepreneurship Skills Training, this program offers hands-on learning, professional mentorship, and real-world exposure to high-demand industries.

A pivot to BACK TO SCHOOL initiatives for teens only (14-17) an immersive, multi-day experience designed to cultivate confidence, character, and leadership capacity in emerging youth leaders. Through interactive workshops, team-building challenges, and guided reflection, participants explore core values, strengthen communication skills, and develop a personal vision for impact. Led by experienced facilitators and mentors, the retreat fosters peer connection, civic awareness, and a commitment to excellence—preparing teens to lead with purpose in their schools, communities, and future careers.

AEYL recognizes that stability at home is essential for youth, teens and young adults to thrive in school, work, and leadership development. Our Emergency Assistance Program provides timely support to families facing unexpected financial or personal crises—ensuring that short-term setbacks do not derail long-term progress. Assistance may include: Housing and/or Utility relief, School-related expenses such as uniforms, supplies, or transportation, Referrals to partner agencies for extended services. By addressing immediate needs with compassion and discretion, AEYL helps families regain stability and empowers youth to remain focused on their goals.
